As the day of the country’s founding, it should come as no surprise that the date is a national holiday. This year, the country’s 48th birthday falls on a Monday, prolonging the weekend for locals and visitors alike.
Here’s a look at some of the festivities happening in Dubai over the course of those few days.
Such a patriotic day wouldn’t be complete without fireworks, and this year, there will be two nights of spectacles, December 1 and 2. The best places to catch a show? La Mer, Jumeirah Beach, Al Seef, the historical area tucked into the Dubai Creek, and Dubai Festival City.

In addition, from November 29 to December 3, most participating malls will be hosting bands who will set up so that customers can shop to the soundtrack of traditional UAE music.
